Melissa Lubrecht

LPCC-S (OH)

Personal Profile

Hello.  My name is Melissa and I have been working in the pediatric and adolescent field of Autism and Mental Health since 2003.  I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor Supervisor (LPCC-S) in the state of Ohio and have a background in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Child Adult Relationship Enhancement (CARE), and Theraplay techniques.  I love to utilize art, therapeutic games, and play with the children and adolescents that I have the privilege to work with.

My family and I live in the Cincinnati area and we have two children and three cats.  I enjoy traveling with my family, listening to music, attending concerts, and doing arts and craft projects.  My most recent needlework project took me two years to finish.

My interest in Autism began when I  worked in an inpatient crisis stabilization unit for children.  I found Autism fascinating and felt it rewarding to become a part of their world.  As I continued my education and obtained my Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling, I further developed my skills in the area of Autism mental health treatment by providing individual therapy for individuals who were on the Spectrum.

I also had the privilege of mentoring and teaching others about working with ASD in a community agency and became research reliable in ADOS assessment (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule-2).  I have worked in a variety of settings including inpatient, outpatient, schools, and health clinic settings.  I truly enjoy working with young people and their families to learn and connect with them and be a part of their journeys.

Testimonials

"I am truly grateful for the impact that Melissa has had on our lives. From the very beginning of our time working with Melissa, she saw my son for who he really is. Melissa has an incredible ability to connect with my son on a personal level, and her commitment to helping him achieve his goals is inspiring. Throughout the course of treatment, she has consistently demonstrated a deep understanding of the unique needs and challenges of a developing child on the autism spectrum and has been able to offer tailored strategies to help him navigate through life. My relationship with my son and his relationships with others are exponentially better because of the work Melissa has done with our family. She truly is a lifesaver."
